What a lovely movie with a surprise ending.

A boy with a strained relationship with his father. His father played by Pierce Brosnan, is a bigshot businessman and so don’t have time for his family. His wife already left him. He does seemed like he loved his work more than his family. The hero of this movie, played non other by Mr. Vampire himself, Robert Pattinson, had some beef with his dad, and it shows. He also has a kid sister which he loves so much and he seemed to be protecting her from their father.

Boy meet Girl moment happened in college. She seemed perfect for him.

It all went almost in the end. You’d thought that this movie would have a happy ending, but then 9-11 stroke and and killed the hero the movie. That was quite an interesting ending. Never thought that it would happened that way. It so happens that not long after watching this movie, Osama bin Laden was said to be killed by the commandos of USA. What a coincidence.

I like how the story turns out before it ended. The family should always remains with each other. That a father sometimes doesn’t know how to show his family that he loves them. But he loves them nonetheless. Sometimes, by working to provide for the family is how he showed them his love. To provide for the family.

It’s a slow and nice movie to watch. Go ahead.

Morning Glory

A story about the life of a tv producer. I thought that it would be glamorous but it really is not. At least not as what was portrayed here in this movie. It’s about a young woman wanting go get ahead in her career. She loves television so much that she put everything that she got in her job. It’s interesting to see how a television show is done. Lots of hard work. And meeting. I like the meetings. This is where they pulled all their resources together and try to come up with ideas on what to do on their show.

It’s a story about when you work your heart’s out, you can achieve what you want.

Playing for Pizza May 28, 2011

Paying for Pizza is a short novel by John Grisham, released on September 25, 2007. The novel is about an itinerant American football player who can no longer get work in the National Football League and whose agent, as a last resort, signs a deal for him to play for the Parma Panthers, in Parma, Italy.

Grisham is of course my favorite writer in the whole world. I couldn’t get enough of him. I like his words and the bantering inside his books. Really smooth characters in there. Much like Hank Moody in Californication series.

Usually he writes about legal stuff. Him bring a former lawyer himself. But I guess he got tired of that genre and move along to touch other things.

Not really familiar with american football to appreciate the game anecdotes in the book, but it never stops me to truly enjoyed the work. Great stuff.

One thing he managed to do is show how interesting the Italians are. His description of the food and camaraderie was impressive. It would be lovely country to visit.

I’m always a sucker for movies about people with supernatural abilities. This is one of it.
Again, it’s about a cliche alien which comes down on earth but have another group of alien from his planet looking for them to kill them. Why? Don’t ask.

It’s always interesting to me know to imagine how a man with supernatural abilities have to cope with living but maintaining the secret of his abilities.

I like the dude who plays the protector. He’s a no nonsense kind of guy who take a mighty care to his work. Unfortunately he died before the end of the movie.

Eventually no 4 met with no 6 who is a chick who fights and know more than he does. It smells sequels all over this movie. Wonder how that would turns out.

This novel tells the true story of retired sociology professor Morrie Schwartz and his relationship with his students. On his graduation, Mitch Albom, the narrator, tells his favorite professor, Morrie Schwartz, that he will keep in touch. However, Mitch doesn’t contact his professor until one night when he sees Morrie being interviewed on T.V.. It turns out that Morrie has developed ALS, a terminal disease, and is in a wheelchair. Mitch begins to visit his professor and soon realizes that, though he has grown remarkably, he still has a lot to learn from Morrie.

I was looking for a book to read and upon googling, this book was suggested as one that would change your life. This was a very touching book for me. A man is already dying but he decided that he would take this opportunity to continue to teach. He was already an exceptional teacher before.

How many books made you cry when you finish it?

When you are about to die, your thinking would be different. Your focus would definitely shifted to other things. Which are more important things. Your family, your relationship with them, the nature. You want to make things right.

Al Fatihah kepada Osama May 6, 2011

Beberapa hari yg lalu, komando amerika dgn rampoknya telah memasuki kediaman (tempat persembunyian?) Osama dan membunuh beliau dan beberapa orang lagi. Betapa bangganya mereka. Mendabik dada.

Dah lama dah mereka mencari Osama. Memang nak bunuh terus. Bukan nak tangkap dia dan tanya. Shoot first, itulah agaknya kata mereka. Ask question Later. Tapi betul ke Osama yang buat segala durjana? We’ll never know now. Media urusan mereka. Apalah info kita akan dapat nanti agaknya.

Heran:
– kenapa helikopter yang bawak komando boleh terhempas?
– kenapa cepat sangat nak kebumikan Osama?
– bukan kebumi pun. Buang dalam laut jer. Kurang ajar.
– sekarang taknak keluarkan gambar Osama plak.
– perasan tak Osama nama tak berapa jauh dgn Obama? Hehe.

Stay tune. Macam macam cerita akan keluar lagi nanti.

Konsert Wings Opera Hidup May 4, 2011

I’m no rockers at all. But last weekend I spent two days to watch wings concert at Istana Budaya! What an experience. I don’t think I ever went to a rock concert before. And I’m not sure whether this can be considered as one because it’s at istana budaya. You don’t actually see people go bonkers at a place this grand, but I’m going to call this a rock concert nonetheless.

Wings has been around for the past 25 years. Because they’re that good. A close second is Search. Wings can really entertain people. I can sing to most of their songs. Though most of the time I don’t remember the title of the songs.

It was a great experience for me. I went to the orchestra show. Then the following day, the acustic show. And the following day, I watched it again via streaming at asyik.tv. That’s another experience altogether.

I think it’s great that a rock band can perform at a prestigious place like IB. What an an achievement!
