Lumosity Brain Trainer July 26, 2011

Believe or not, actually I hate to think so much. I also have a low concentration level. Can’t maintain my interest for a long time without some effort.

So I have to train myself to think and concentrate. In the past, I’ve pushed myself to play chess because I believe that it would force me to think. And it’s also a game to be enjoyed. Except That I’m not really a good player and that made me lose interest. You can only accept defeat a so long a time.

But chess it so happens that it’s not really acceptable in Islamic circle and so I have to abandon that.

And so I’ve found this app in AppStore that is designed to increase brain power, concentration, problem solving features, the like. It involves specifically designed game. Now I’m not really good at playing games at all. But I’ve found that I got better over time. I try to play every day. some days, more than once.

the games inside the iphone is just a teaser. so later, I’ve went into the web application and registered to become a member. I really can’t say whether i’ve improved or not, but I like to think so. This is the only games that I play now. Like I said, not a very good game player. You can find this app in appstore. Good luck!

This speaker might be small and cute, but it sure pack great stuff in it. I use it on my iPhone when I want to have a big sound or on my lappy when I need an extra boost in sound. Great technology.

Useful and Favourite Software October 21, 2010

Thought of doing a community service by listing all my fav software. I’ll divide it into PC software and iPhone apps. Enjoy. Will update from time to time:

PC Softwares:

Foxit Reader: it’s a pdf reader. Usually people would use Adobe reader. But Adobe is such a huge file and it takes more power from the PC to use it. Foxit is so much simpler and the facilities that it gives is not bad. It’s enough for me.

iPhone apps:

Docstogo: This is one of the apps that I use to create Microsoft Word or Excel file from my iphone. But I usually use this to sync files from my PC to iPhone. I have a folder which I put all the current files that I’m working on and I can sync that folder to my iphone. So that, when I’m on the go and want to review the files that I’m working on, I can immediately find it in that folder. Nifty stuff. You have to install the desktop version on your PC to sync it. The synchronization is using wifi. Welcome to Apple world.

Trapster July 3, 2010

image861730212.jpgAnother app that I’m using now is to cheat the speedtraps! This is a community app where users would post the locations of speedtraps whenever they found it. This is turn will alert the other community members. Apart from that, we can also post accidents, construction site etc so that it can alert the road user any potential disaster.

I’m learning to understand how the reports were made because sometimes I don’t find the traps reported. Maybe it’s no longer there or there weren’t any to start with!

I did my part by putting in traps and accidents that I encounter. It’s a give and take thing. Hope this app will have more users so that the reports would be more accurate.

My worry is the traffic police would get to know about this app and they would post bogus information to mess with the info in the app. Hope not.

Reeder app May 23, 2010

image1303480773.jpgI do like to read blogs which I found to be interesting. The old ways is to open the blog directly but that is such a waste of time. There might not be updates and you might be reading again old posts.

So the best way to me is to use Google Reader which keep tracks of the blogs that you register with it. That way, you just read new updates of the blogs.

And for iPhone, you have the benefit of using the app called Reeder to open google reader in such a simple way. I just open it and it would start downloading updates of the blogs that I follow. It’s easy.

chess.com May 9, 2010

image16443044.jpgI’m not that good playing chess. In fact, I sometimes lost to kids. But I like the game because it forces me to think strategy.

I like playing with a real person rather than with computers because then only I have a chance to win. People make mistakes. Computer program tend not to.

So I like this app where I can have an online correspondence chess with players around the world. Cool.

image1583690540.jpgNow using iBlogger for updating My blog. I have been using wordpress for iphone all these while. But today when i want to update My blog, i can’t seem to use it. WordPress has updated The app and it can only work with version 3.1 while i’m still using version 3.0 of My iphone OS. What a bummer! WordPress IS better and more use friendly. But now i have to be contend with iBlogger.

Goodreader April 18, 2010

I like to read. And these days i can only read ebooks. If i got spare time, i could whip out My iphone and kill a few minutes.

There’s a few good ebook apps out there. But now i’m using Goodreader which can open large pdf file and it opens it as what the PDF should be. I love it. It’s like reading the file on computer screen, albeit a bit smaller.

It can also open other type of files but I haven’t tried that yet. This is the best PDF reader so far that I have found.

Water Apps April 18, 2010

Thought that I start reviewing apps from iPhone that I’ve been using. And it’s aplenty!

This water apps. I use it to keep track of the amount of water I drink daily. I would suggest the amount of water that you should drink based on your weight. In my case, it’s ten glasses a day.

I know that it’s like an overkill. Can’t you just remember hour much you drink on your own, you might ask?

Why do so when when you have an app to do that for you?
